Western Piedmont Weather Authority: Why We Exist
From brutal winter storms to sunny skies...from deadly tornado outbreaks to life-threatening flash flooding ...from peaceful sea breezes to devastating hurricanes...there is no doubt that North Carolina is home to some of the nation's most dynamic weather.
In our modern 21st century environment, we have both the technology and ability to create accurate and reliable forecasts that will help prepare people days, or perhaps even weeks before a severe weather outbreak occurs.
Sadly, in this technologically-advanced society, many people simply are too busy to care about the weather, and are too pre-occupied to take weather preparedness seriously. While improvements in weather warnings and weather technology have significantly reduced the number of deaths caused by severe storms each year, the majority of the population is still weather illiterate.
Located in Charlotte, North Carolina, Western Piedmont Weather Authority (WPWA) is committed to providing accurate and reliable forecast solutions for a busy society by using the latest technology and cutting-edge software to bring dynamic forecast information right to you.
Our mission is not only to improve forecasts, but to increase awareness and preparedness of severe weather, as well as to influence weather literacy in our modern society.
We plan to accomplish our mission by using the latest technology and cutting-edge software to bring you accurate and reliable weather data that will help prepare people in advance of severe weather.

Western Piedmont Weather Authority: Who We Are

Western Piedmont Weather Authority is run entirely by one man--Trey Parker. First and foremost, Trey is a weather enthusiast at heart. Trey developed an interest for the weather at the age of 3. As Trey grew older, he began to develop a more complex and deeper interest in the mechanics of the atmosphere. By the age of 11, he began reading and interpreting forecast discussions and by the age of 13, he had his first introduction to weather models. At the age of 15, Trey earned his basic and advanced SKYWARN storm spotter certifications from the National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg, S.C. Since then, Trey has earned several other certifications in different areas of meteorology including mesoscale meteorology, mountain meteorology, and summer severe weather.
Although Trey does not possess a degree in meteorology, he is very educated and knowledgeable about the atmosphere and has a passion for forecasting all types of meteorological phenomena, especially severe thunderstorms and tornadoes.
Trey founded Western Piedmont Weather Authority, formerly known as TDWXNC Weather, in the fall of 2015. Over the past two years, the Twitter page has grown and a legacy of accurate and reliable forecast data and increased weather preparedness has been established by Western Piedmont Weather Authority. It is Trey's earnest desire and prayer that Western Piedmont Weather Authority will continue to fulfill its mission to improve forecasts, increase severe weather preparedness, and influence weather literacy in the years to come.
Trey is also very outspoken about his faith and stands firm on Christian doctrines/values. His bold witness for Christ has inspired many and his heart for God is reflected in so many ways here at Western Piedmont Weather Authority. He encourages everyone to visit his Bible website, Valiant for Christ, and find out how to know Christ as your Lord and Saviour.
